Caring for and Maintaining your Classic and Vintage Porsche Vinyl Decals

Vinyl decals offer a fun way to add a personal flavor profile to your Porsche, be it windows, decals, body panels, or helmets. By correctly applying them and providing regular and proper care, their vibrant look and secure attachment adhesion can be preserved for an extended period.

Before Applying the Decal:

- Thoroughly clean the surface with 70% isopropyl alcohol to eliminate dirt, oils, and residue.

- Ensure the surface is completely dry before applying the decal.

- Avoid using cleaners that contain ammonia or wax, as they can hinder adhesion.

Applying the Decal:

- We recommend washing your hands before removing the paper backing to eliminate any skin oils or residue.

- When handling the decal, avoid touching the adhesive surface directly with your fingers to ensure maximum adhesion.

- Carefully position the decal before removing the backing.

- Start applying from the center outward to prevent bubbles and wrinkles.

- Smooth the decal evenly using a squeegee, credit card, or your hand.

- For larger decals, secure the position with tape before application.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

- Wash decals with mild, pH-neutral soap and water.

- While our decals are protected with a durable clear over laminate, prolonged soaking should be avoided to ensure long-lasting performance.

- Use only soft microfiber cloths or non-abrasive sponges.

- Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, degreasers, acetone, gasoline, and abrasive cleaning tools.

- Dry decals with a clean microfiber towel after washing.

Protecting Your Decals:

- Try to limit exposure to intense sunlight and extreme heat.

- Park in shaded areas or use protective coverings when feasible.

- Consider adding a UV-protective laminate or vinyl shield for extra durability.

- Avoid high-friction areas where decals may get rubbed or scratched.

Things to Avoid:

- Automatic car washes with rotating brushes.

- High-pressure washing directly on decal edges.

- Abrasive pads, and harsh scrubbing.

- Waxes and chemicals that could harm the vinyl or weaken the adhesive.

Storage:

- Store unused decals in a cool, dry place.

- Keep them flat and weighed down if needed to prevent curling.

Removal:

- To remove a decal, gently lift one corner and peel it away slowly from the surface to minimize residue adhesion.

By following proper installation techniques, gentle cleaning practices, and shielding decals from harsh conditions, their appearance and adhesion can be preserved for many years.
